Pavilion 7
Oslo, Norway
Cultural Pavilion
2021
Pavilion 7 is a small-scale cultural structure designed to host exhibitions and public events within a natural setting in Oslo. The project emphasizes lightness and adaptability, creating a flexible space that can accommodate various uses. Its compact form and open structure allow it to blend into the surrounding landscape. The pavilion acts as both an architectural object and a social space, encouraging interaction and engagement.

The concept is based on modularity and simplicity, allowing the pavilion to be assembled efficiently and adapted over time. The structure is composed of repeated elements that define both form and function. Openness is a key principle, ensuring visual and physical connections to the environment. The design prioritizes flexibility, enabling different configurations and uses.

The pavilion offers an open and inviting space where boundaries between inside and outside are minimized. Visitors move freely through the structure, experiencing changing views of the surrounding landscape. The lightweight construction creates a sense of permeability, allowing light and air to flow through. The spatial experience is informal and engaging.

Natural materials such as timber form the primary structure, complemented by simple metal connections. The construction is expressed honestly, with all elements clearly visible and legible. Detailing is straightforward and functional, supporting the modular concept. The material palette reinforces the pavilion’s connection to nature.
The use of renewable materials and efficient construction methods reduces environmental impact. The modular system allows for disassembly and reuse, extending the lifecycle of the structure. Pavilion 7 responds sensitively to its landscape, minimizing disturbance while providing a valuable public amenity.
