Pavilion
2022
Timber Pavilion is conceived as a temporary yet refined structure located within a public park in Zurich. The project serves as a flexible platform for gatherings, exhibitions, and informal events. Its lightweight construction allows it to integrate gently into the landscape, creating a subtle architectural presence. The pavilion acts as both a shelter and a spatial framework, encouraging public interaction and engagement.

The concept is based on openness and modularity, using a repetitive timber system to define space without enclosing it completely. The structure creates a rhythm of columns and beams, forming a permeable boundary between inside and outside. The design emphasizes adaptability, allowing the pavilion to host different functions over time.

The pavilion offers a fluid spatial experience, where movement is unrestricted and boundaries are blurred. Light filters through the timber structure, creating a dynamic pattern of shadow and texture. The openness encourages interaction, while the structural rhythm provides a sense of order. The space can be both active and contemplative.

Timber is used as the primary material, highlighting its structural and aesthetic qualities. Connections are carefully detailed to express precision and craftsmanship. The natural finish allows the material to weather over time, reinforcing its temporary character. The simplicity of the system ensures clarity and efficiency.
The pavilion uses renewable materials and can be disassembled or reused, minimizing environmental impact. Its lightweight footprint preserves the landscape. Passive shading and natural ventilation enhance comfort. The project demonstrates sustainable design through simplicity and adaptability.
