Garden Residence
Zurich, Switzerland
Residential
2022
Garden Residence is designed as a contemporary home that establishes a strong relationship with its surrounding landscape. Situated in Zurich, the project carefully positions built volumes to frame views and create direct access to the garden. The architecture emphasizes openness and transparency, allowing interior spaces to extend outward. The design achieves a balance between privacy and exposure, offering a calm and refined living environment connected to nature.

The concept is based on the integration of architecture and landscape as a single composition. Rather than treating the garden as a separate element, it becomes an extension of the living space. Volumes are arranged to create sheltered outdoor areas and framed perspectives. The design focuses on continuity, ensuring that transitions between interior and exterior are fluid and natural.

The interior is organized as a sequence of open, interconnected spaces that gradually transition into the garden. Large glazed surfaces dissolve visual boundaries, allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the plan. Movement through the house is defined by shifting views and changing spatial conditions. The experience is calm and immersive, with constant visual and physical access to the landscape.

Materials are selected for their ability to complement the natural surroundings, including timber, stone, and glass. The palette is restrained, creating a cohesive and elegant aesthetic. Detailing is minimal and precise, emphasizing clean lines and seamless connections. The architecture allows materials and light to define the atmosphere.
The project incorporates passive design strategies, including orientation, shading, and natural ventilation. Green spaces contribute to microclimate regulation and biodiversity. Durable materials ensure longevity, while the integration with the landscape reduces environmental impact. Garden Residence reflects a sustainable approach to contemporary living.
