Villa Luma
Nice, France
Private Residence
2023
Villa Luma is positioned on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean coastline near Nice. The project responds to its dramatic setting through a series of stepped volumes that follow the natural slope. Rather than creating a single dominant form, the house is composed as a layered structure that opens toward the sea. Each level establishes a direct relationship with the landscape, creating a continuous connection between architecture and horizon.

The concept is based on light, openness, and continuity. Large glazed surfaces dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, while deep terraces provide shade and spatial depth. The architecture emphasizes horizontal lines, framing views and reinforcing the relationship with the horizon. Spaces are designed to flow seamlessly, supporting a relaxed and fluid mode of living.

The interior unfolds as a sequence of open living areas connected to terraces and outdoor spaces. Movement is intuitive, guided by views and natural light. Private areas are positioned to provide both openness and seclusion. The experience is defined by constant visual connection to the landscape, with changing light conditions shaping the atmosphere.

A refined palette of stone, glass, and light-toned plaster defines the villa. Materials are selected to reflect the Mediterranean context while maintaining a contemporary character. Detailing is clean and precise, supporting the overall clarity of the design. The use of natural textures adds warmth to the minimal composition.
The design incorporates passive shading, natural ventilation, and optimized orientation. Terraces reduce solar gain while extending living spaces. Local materials reduce environmental impact. Villa Luma balances comfort, performance, and strong integration with its coastal setting.
